Manager Resources

Team Manager Roles & Responsibilities

Thank you for considering managing or co-managing one of our lacrosse teams. It takes a village to run a great lacrosse program and we appreciate your contribution as a village member. A Team Manager doesn't have to be a single person! Feel free to find other parents to help volunteer to fulfill some of the responsibilities below.

*This looks like a lot because we've tried to be very detailed in the information we are providing

General Communication

  • Input all practices, games and tournaments into Sports Engine (if they aren't already there or there are changes)
  • Send emails with the events of the week/month
  • Communicate weather cancelations (will be determined by league/MLA Youth Director)
  • Send other relevant information from the association

Coach Support

  • Collect team availability and alert coaches when team will be short (done through SE)
  • Collect questions from parents to bring to coaches for answers

Team Administration

  • Update SportsEngine with jersey numbers (one-time activity)
  • Help parents and coaches with SportsEngine

Game Support

  • Enter game scores onto MSLax, YLM, or GNNL sites (if required)
  • Schedule/assign score and clock volunteer parents (sign-up genius) (this is typically only applicable for older teams and it's typically only required for home game)
  • Setup or assign setup to other parents of table, chairs, clock, and scoreboard (there's a metal box at each field with the equipment in it)
  • Work with game scheduler when reschedules are needed
  • Ensure families know which color jersey to wear to games (blue for away and white for home)
  • Verify ref availability for each game on website (girls only)

Tournaments Support

  • Work with association for hotel blocks for out of town games and tournaments (if you have an out of town tournament that requires a hotel stay)
  • Plan things to make the tournament go well... like tents, benches, meals, etc.
  • Be the point of contact for tournaments

Teaming Events

  • Plan a beginning of the season teaming event
  • Plan an end of the season teaming event
